After years of people telling me I should start a blog, e-publish/ self-publish, or just generally get myself out there, I finally did so at the advice of a stranger I met in an Arizona art gallery. (I swear I pay attention to you, friends and family. I love you!) Admittedly, she was a nice and spectacularly friendly stranger. Perhaps it was one of those right time, right place things…

It’s difficult for me to think of self-publishing, or even self-promoting. My stories are the children of my mind, with a great deal of thought and effort poured into their creation. I do a lot of research, trying to meld my ideas of a magic world into a word-picture of our real one, and making the people and places seem like they really exist. What if you hand someone this little piece of yourself that you’ve worried and near-obsessed over, and he/she looks at it as if they’re holding a bag of soiled diapers?

Yes, you can tell yourself that everyone faces rejection. Even now-famous authors were rejected once, twice, or a dozen times. But still…

I’m working on the second in an urban fantasy series, and I’ll be putting up bits of the book I’ve completed, some short stories, and probably some pieces that may one day be a story. Probably a poem or three. And likely a fair degree of enthusing over various books, I’ll admit – I am a bibliophile.

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.
