Sometimes, like a lot of people I guess, I suffer from insomnia. But I also have a trait on the opposite side of things–I can fall back asleep really easily. I can wake up, talk to people and seem awake, and still slide back to sleep. It’s helpful when something wakes me up that’s not supposed to–less helpful when I’m supposed to be awake. Which is why I have to get up and get going in the mornings, because I don’t set a million alarms like some people I know…

Also, I want  to thank everyone who ever read, liked, commented, and/or followed me. I recently reached a milestone–50 followers!

It’s very nice to know I’m not just talking to myself, and absolutely fabulous to know that some people find me entertaining/interesting enough to keep track of. When I started this blog in January, I had no idea what I was doing, but I followed the advice of others, and am making slow but steady progress.

So, thank you all!

Drifting Off

Sleep–

Elusive heat shimmer mirage

chased

but hardly ever caught

in a desert of sheets

Slow steady reliable tides

sweep out at night

and return to cushioned shores

each morning

Wake–

Skipping stone

dipping below the surface

again and again

sinking to slumber despite alarms

Sudden draining away

left dry of dreams

marooned

on reality’s shores
