Happy first day, NaNoWriMo writers! My Novembers are so busy I can’t imagine taking on a crazy word count like that, but I admire you all for giving it a shot. Instead, I’m going to do a post-a-day for the month, which should be plenty of fun and excitement for me.

I got this idea from alphabeticallyinclined–a 30 Day book challenge. The question was which 30 days to do it in. November has Thanksgiving and my birthday, this year both falling on the same day, because Thanksgiving is one of those movable holidays. (Which is part of the reason I can’t imagine doing NaNoWriMo.)

This’ll be by birthday present to you all.

Day 1: A book series you wish had gone on longer OR a book series you wish would just end already.

Because I love an underdog. A bunch of underdogs is even better!

Phule’s Company; Robert Asprin

So this series is a combination of the two. I love this series, but then the last book made me wish it had ended with the previous book. It was a terrible, terrible disappointment.

I’m still not over it.

A great series, nonetheless–and maybe you’ll enjoy the latest book–so give it a try if you like SciFi. The books follow a military organization with a bunch of aliens and humans, all of them misfits shuffled off into a group so no one else has to deal with them. They’ve given up, but their new commander won’t.

Also… big guns.

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.
