Day 2: A book or series you wish more people were reading and talking about

Hospital Station; James White

This is an older book, which means that people don’t usually talk about them, I guess? (Excluding classics.) I’ve not heard too many people talking about these books, at least.

Anyway, these books are set in an enormous space station hospital, for all the species that might need treatment. And these are realistic aliens–some can’t even breathe the same air as humans, much less eat the same food or use the same furniture. Many aliens have biological issues that makes curing them of illness/injury very difficult. (For example, there’s a shark-like species that has to keep moving in order to live. And a species that absorbs food constantly though their skin.) The way the doctors make it all work is fascinating.

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.
