Week three is proving a bit of a slog. Much more so than week 2. I have only a last few scenes to write, and they’re not coming to me. Also, I’m once again going to be short, there’s no way these scenes will stretch to the rest of the 50, 000. Since they’re not cooperating, I’ve gone back to the beginning, skimming (and trying not to edit) and looking for places where another scene belongs.
We’ll see how that goes, but I’m fairly determined not to quit 2/3rds of the way in.
Only one week left!
You GO, Girl! Hang in there. Write a new scene, even if it has to be juggled around later. Write a fuller description of some characters. Add a new character, even if it isn’t necessary…someone for comic relief, maybe? I know there’s something you can do to make your goal. Write an alternate ending? Beginning? More back story? You can do it!!
Thanks,Marcia. I may try any of those things, we’ll see how it goes.
I’m struggling too…but so close. Just need to get my head down and type. Good luck to you
You, too. We’re too close to quit now!
Got up to 42, 429 last night.
Whoa, you’re days ahead! Rock on! 🙂
(Also, have you noticed how the numbers seem to have patterns in them? Repetition and countdowns and the like?)
You can do it!!!! I love Marcia’s suggestion — you can always just write a random scene and figure out where it goes later — maybe something to develop the relationship between your main characters? It’s like deleted scenes in movies — they don’t HAVE to be in there, but they’re still fun to watch 🙂
Indeed. Every word counts, even if you end up editing it later. 😀
