April is National Poetry Month. Writer’s Digest has a Poem A Day challenge, which I’m going to participate in. A few of those poems will end up here. Check out the link if you want to try the challenge, too.
The challenge for the thirtieth–the last day!–is to write a “calling it a the day” poem. Seems appropriate.

Quitting Time
There’s still things undone
laundry to be folded
floors to be swept
folders to be organized
errands to be run
play that was forgotten
and work left too long
But it is late
the day dwindling into dark
pull a blanket over the ifs
shoulds
and might haves
Let them rest until tomorrow
it will come
soon enough
