April is National Poetry Month. I’m celebrating with Writer’s Digest’s Poem a Day Challenge. Today’s prompt: a departure poem.

Gate 3

Early morning,

not yet five,

tired travelers slumped in seat after seat,

suitcases pressed against their legs,

dots of color stranded on a sea

of industrial gray

there’s no delay

or a mad rush for connecting flights

across vast stretches

Thoughts full of the place they will be

physically present

mentally at thirty-nine thousand feet

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.
