April is National Poetry Month. I’m celebrating with Writer’s Digest’s Poem a Day Challenge. Today’s challenge is two for Tuesday: a love or anti-love poem.

Magic when we met

we talked for hours about nothing

in particular

we never ran out of something

to say

Happiness came easy

Small obstacles easily overcome

little speed bumps

nothing more

Planning our life together was the obvious

next step

Then I was offered a transfer

excited for the adventure

and you weren’t

the arguments you mustered

ragged rows of worn toy soldiers

faltered and crumbled

at the slightest breeze of logic

Instead of regrouping you entrenched deeper

in bitter words

so I broke off our battle and took that adventure

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.
