April is National Poetry Month. I’m celebrating with Writer’s Digest’s Poem a Day Challenge. Today’s prompt is to title your poem “How ___.”

National Poetry rose

How Far

Sultry summer afternoon

air a damp warm cloth against our skin

you and I burrowed into the grass’ cool blades

and dangled our feet in the lazy creek

toes long past raisin-wrinkles

but us past caring

We flicked pebbles into the rippling water

just to see how far they arced before

they vanished into the creek bed

We could throw them further

if we put some effort in

but not today

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.
