April is National Poetry Month. I’m celebrating with Writer’s Digest’s Poem a Day Challenge. Today’s topic, a confession poem.
Sinking Feeling
I confess
I’m better at keeping secrets
than sharing them
Instead of spilling out
dream-gold or tarry fears
I mull
stew and stir
waiting for the truest emotions
to rise
which isn’t to say that I can’t share
my past glories or horrors
but those aren’t secrets
they’re facts
and I confess
I am matter of fact about those
to the point of sharing
too easily
