April is National Poetry Month. I’m celebrating with Writer’s Digest’s Poem a Day Challenge. The last prompt is to write a poem titled Bury the (Blank).

Bury the Moon

I don’t trust the moon’s smile

today

floating against the pale blue sky

mocking and sly

For sure the lunar lady plots

against me

so I will weave a ladder of sunbeams

and clouds

climb to her lofty retreat

pull down the moon and bury

her scimitar grin away
