Sometimes promises break, though this pessimistic poem isn’t always true, I think.

Some promises are easier to keep than others

the problem lies

in telling hollow from sound

they rot from the inside

it’s not the earnestness with which they’re vowed

but the space between the promise

and its end

the vaster the time-void to bridge with words

the more likely they crumble

inky dark betrayal

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.
