I drove several hours to Murder by the Book to see Anne Bishop (left) and Patricia Briggs (right), reading from their latest books. Funnily enough, both their snippets involved cookies–and were pretty funny.

The place was packed, but everyone found a place to stand or sit, and listened quietly to the readings. Then there were all sorts of questions, alternating authors–some tantalizing hints about books to come, but no spoilers! It’s always great to listen to an author you love speak unrehearsed. Patty, as everyone called Patricia Briggs, has quite a snarky sense of humor–and she and Anne Bishop are clearly long-time friends.

It was a pretty long line, but I made it through, eventually. (Did a little reading in the line, so it was productive.)

Author pictures!

Now I have two lovely new books, that went immediately on my to-read (next!) pile.

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.
