March 20: Books On My Spring TBR

Happy first day of Spring! Here’s books that I intend to read this season, which I am most excited about. Some will be coming out soon, some are already out!

1. The Hazel Wood; Melissa Albert. Every time I see this pretty cover in stores, I’m seized by book envy. (It’s shiny!)

2. Alias Grace; Margret Atwood. Saw her speak, got a signed copy.

3. Stone Mad; Elizabeth Bear. A steampunk sequel I’m excited to read.

4. Scourged; Kevin Hearne. The last book in the Iron Druid series. I’m quite curious to see how it all ends.

5. Obsidio; Amie Kaufman. I found this at a used bookstore, so I have to read it soon!

6. Hills Have Spies; Mercedes Lackey. I really enjoyed Mags and Amily– this is about their children.

7. Wires & Nerve: Gone Rogue; Marissa Meyer. More sassy android, please!

8. The Night Masquerade; Nnedi Okorafor. Binti’s first two stories were fascinating and too short.

9. Tempest and Slaughter; Tamora Pierce. I love this magic system, and especially the outliers in talent.

10. The Prince and the Dressmaker; Jen Wang. My library doesn’t have this, but I’ll get my hands on it somehow.

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.

  1. I read The Hazel Wood and enjoyed it. I keep meaning to post my review. I’ve seen Alias Grace popping up on peoples to read list and book clubs.

I really enjoyed The Hazel Wood. Happy reading! ❤️

  3. I want to read Obsidio, too. First I need to read Gemina though!

  4. Say whaaaat. You already found a used copy of Obsidio (wasn’t it just released?) What a bargain!

  5. Hazelwood is also on my TBR list!

I’ve not read Tamora Pierce so I thought Tempest and Slaughter could be my first book.

I want to read The Hazel Wood too. I’m jealous of you getting to see Margaret Atwood. I liked Alias Grace a lot. It’s a bit slow but well written. Here’s my list: https://franlaniado.wordpress.com/2018/03/20/top-ten-tuesday-my-spring-tbr/

  8. All of these sound great Caitlin! I also reaaaallly want to read The Hazel Wood. That cover makes me drool 😀

  9. Oh these are all great picks. I’ve read The Hazel Wood, Obsidio and Wires and Nerve so I hope you really enjoy them, they were all top reads of mine.
    Great post! 😀

I really enjoyed The Hazel Wood! And the Binti stories are on my TBR – I’ve only read Lagoon by Okorafor so far, so I’m glad to hear those are good as well!

  11. Wow! I’m so jealous you were able to hear Margret Atwood speak in person! She is definitely one of my bucket list authors to see in person.

I am also planning on reading the 3rd Binti book. I agree that they are much too short, but I cannot believe the author is able to immerse me in a world in such few pages.
