June 12: Books That Awaken the Travel Bug In Me.
- Half of a Yellow Sun; Chimamanda Adichie. Even in tough times, the country sounds spectacular.
2. The Bear & the Nightingale; Katherine Arden. Russia is dangerous in the winter, but still beautiful.
3. Murder on the Orient Express; Agatha Christie. An opulent train ride is the way to go, as long as no one dies.
4. Anna and the French Kiss; Stephanie Perkins. Paris seems lovely, with or without a romance.
5. Harry Potter. Can we travel to the HP world for real? No? I’d settle for England.
6. A Town Like Alice; Nevil Shute. Not the first place traveled to, but Australia is described in such glowing terms.
7. All The Crooked Saints; Maggie Stiefvater. This particular magical Colorado isn’t real, but real Colorado is plenty magical.
8. Wild; Cheryl Strayed. I wouldn’t want to make that whole walk, but the landscape sounds lovely.
9. Around the World in 80 Days; Jules Verne. I wouldn’t want to be rushed, but wouldn’t it be wonderful to travel the whole world?
Totally with you on the Orient Express! It would be very cool as long as there was no murder! Great choices ! 😊
My TTT : https://lifewithallthebooks.com/2018/06/12/top-ten-tuesday-books-that-awaken-the-travel-bug-in-me/
Most things are better without a murder. Except for mysteries, of course!
Great list! I totally want to read All The Crooked Saints!
It’s a strange, dreamy sort of book. Hope you enjoy it!
Excellent list, Caitlin! I agree about Murder on the Orient Express and Anna and the French Kiss, and Wild made my TTT as well. I just got a copy of A Town Like Alice and am looking forward to reading it.
Happy reading!
Awesome choices. I agree about The Bear and the Nightengale, Murder on the Orient Express and A Town Like Alice (Australia is really beautiful and I highly recommend going if you ever get a chance)
I did a bit of a twist on this week’s topic: https://franlaniado.wordpress.com/2018/06/12/top-ten-tuesday-anti-travel-books/
If I ever get the chance, I will definitely go. And hopefully not run into any snakes or spiders…
I have heard so much about Anna and the French Kiss but always shy away from picking it up
No book is for everyone. If you do give it a chance, I hope you enjoy it!
Wild is a great pick. I haven’t actually read it, but I kind of wish I had so I could use it for this post. Haha.
Well, you could have done “Books on my TBR that give me travel bug vibes” or something.
It’s a good book! Tough in spots (drug use, mostly), but also beautiful and hopeful. 🙂
Around the world in 80 days is a good choice! 🙂 If I had the opportunity to do that, I would probably take it!
These days we can go around the world much faster, of course!
This is true!
