November 6: Backlist Books I Want to Read

Though I’m often tempted by shiny new releases, there’s always a few older books I want to read.

  1. Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven; Sherman Alexie. (1993) Short story collection.

2. Kin; Holly Black. (2008) Dark fairy tale.

3. War for the Oaks; Emma Bull. 1987. Music and fairyland.

4. Devil You Know; Mike Carey. (2007) Freelance exorcist. Two words that spell trouble.

5. The Gods of Gotham; Lyndsay Faye. (2012) 1800s NYC police.

6. Tower of Ravens; Kate Forsyth. (2004) Flying horses! Can’t go wrong with flying horses.

7. Moab is my Washpot; Stephen Fry. (1997) An excellent comedian.

8. The Thief Lord; Cornelia Funke. (2000). Magic and orphans.

9. Cold Fire; Tamora Pierce. (2002) More magic!

10. Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand; Helen Simonson. (2010) A small village and a quiet hero.

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.

  1. I always wanted to read Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand, too. Hopefully we’ll both get to it someday!

Great list. Actually a few of those are on my TBR as well (just not in the top ten!) I definitely plan to read War for the Oaks and The Gods of Gotham at some point though. I love Kate Forsyth, so I’ll probably also get to Tower of Ravens at some point too. I loved Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand. Here’s my list:

I don’t think I’ve heard of any of these but I need to add some to my TBR. I especially love the cover of Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand. 🙂

  4. I owned Major Pettigrew for a years and it was one of many books I purged when I moved. 😔 Unfortunately, I never read it. I’m going to start The Lone Ranger & Tonto next week unless Michelle Obama’s new book Becoming arrives. Happy reading. Happy Reading!

  5. I hope you enjoy all of these books, and I hope you manage to get around to them soon as well (I get where you’re coming from though because I’m always distracted by shiny new releases!) 😀
