Jolabokaflod (or properly Jólabókaflóðið) is the Icelandic ‘book flood’ of new releases before Christmas. The tradition is to give books and read them over the holidays.

Sounds perfect, doesn’t it?

I love to cozy up under a blanket, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a lap cat, and read while the weather outside is frightful.

Giving books is one of my favorite things. If you can find a book you think someone would enjoy, why wouldn’t you give it to them? I manage to locate a few book gifts every year, and usually get a couple in return.

What about you? Any books under your tree? And do you plan to read away the holidays?

About Caitlin Stern

I have a MA in English, and have so many fantasy/urban fantasy WIPs it's not even funny. I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, biography, fiction, and anything else that catches my interest. I collect books, and bookmarks I find that are visually appealing and useful.
